Histology
Ethos Biosciences offers a comprehensive portfolio of histology products that are designed to support every stage of the tissue workflow. Each solution is developed with a focus on consistency and reproducibility across routine and specialized applications.
Backed by over 20 years of manufacturing experience and, together with hands-on laboratory knowledge, Ethos Biosciences supports histology workflows at a practical level. With control over formulation and production, we’re here to help laboratories identify and resolve issues that can arise during slide preparation.
Formaldehyde-Based Fixatives
The most widely used fixative in histology, formaldehyde solutions such as neutral buffered formalin, preserve tissue morphology by cross-linking proteins. This stabilization maintains cellular structure for routine diagnostic and research applications.
EM / Molecular
Electron microscopy and molecular fixation solutions are designed to preserve ultrastructural detail and nucleic acid integrity. These specialized fixatives support applications requiring high-resolution imaging or downstream molecular analysis.
Specialty Fixatives
Specialty fixatives are formulated for specific tissue types or staining techniques where standard formalin fixation may not be optimal. These solutions help preserve delicate cellular components or highlight particular biological structures.
Fresh Frozen and Transport
Fresh frozen preparations and transport solutions address early-stage specimen handling before standard processing begins. Rapid freezing helps preserve any enzyme activity and antigenicity for molecular and immunohistochemical applications. Transport media keep samples stable during transfer, which helps reduce degradation until fixation or further processing occurs.
Decalcifying Solutions
These solutions are acid formulations that dissolve calcium deposits while maintaining tissue morphology. They support consistent processing across a range of specimen types and staining protocols.
PRODUCT LIST
Clearing Agents
Clearing agents are used to replace dehydrating fluids with substances that are compatible with infiltrating the sample with paraffin. These solutions promote efficient solvent exchange and help maintain tissue transparency and structure prior to embedding.
Paraffin & Embedding Media
Prepared samples are infiltrated with molten paraffin wax and are then embedded in a mold for sectioning. These formulations are created for consistent infiltration and clean sectioning to help keep samples stable.
MOHs Surgery Products
Stains and dyes that are designed specifically for MOHs surgical procedures support rapid processing and accurate orientation of tissue margins during staged excision. A clear contract between tissue structures allows margins to be assessed immediately.
Reagent Alcohol Series
50%-100% graded alcohol solutions progressively remove water from samples while minimizing any tissue shrinkage. This stepwise approach supports a more dependable processing workflow and prepares samples for clearing.
Denatured Ethanol
Denatured ethanol provides an efficient and economical option for the dehydration process. It reliably removes water while also maintaining compatibility with other processing reagents.
Isopropyl Alcohol
Another alternative dehydration agent that can be used for more controlled penetration, but with slower evaporation. Isopropyl alcohol is often used when gentler processing conditions are needed or preferred.
Acetone
Acetone is used for rapid dehydration and can also function as a clearing agent in certain histology workflows and supports more time-sensitive applications while also preserving structural details.
Routine H&E Components
Hematoxylin and eosin are stains that provide the foundation for all histological evaluation by highlighting the nuclei and cytoplasmic structures. These staining formulations deliver a more balanced staining with clear contrast for routine diagnostics.
Differentiators and Bluing
These reagents help further refine staining results by adjusting contrast and stabilizing nuclear coloration. These steps improve clarity and help standardize slide interpretation.
Special Stain Kits (Ready-to-Use)
Ethos Bioscience produces ready-to-use staining kits that simplify complex staining protocols by providing pre-formulated reagents. These kits also help reduce variability and preparation time of staining workflows.
Individual Stain Components (A–Z)
A full range of individual stain components enables protocol customization across routine and specialized applications. This flexibility allows laboratories to refine their staining methods and adapt their workflows to specific tissue types or diagnostic needs.
Dry Dyes & Powders
Concentrated dye powders and raw materials support custom stain preparation with greater control over the formulations. In powder form, these materials have an extended storage life and also allow for a more consistent mixing for staining.
Mediums
Mounting media secures coverslips in place and provides a clear optical interface for microscopy. These formulations protect slides from degradation while also supporting accurate visualization.
QC Slides
Quality control (QC) slides are a standardized reference for validating staining performance and system consistency. They help laboratories stay aligned with correct workflows and maintain accuracy over time.
Slides
Microscope slides provide a stable surface for mounting tissue sections. These products are manufactured for uniform thickness and compatibility with automated and manual workflows.
